ABU DHABI Brightpoint Royal Women’s hospital that recently opened in Abu Dhabi is a unique healthcare facility for women run by women.
This deluxe 100-bed facility is the first private hospital in the capital exclusively dedicated to ‘mother and child’ care.
“This is a hospital where women serve women,” Dr. Anselma Ferrao, Medical Director of Brightpoint told XPRESS.
More than 90 per cent of the hospital’s 230-strong medical and support staff is women. From the top tier-management to service staff, it is a women’s world at Brightpoint.
Leading gynaecologists, internal medicine specialists, general practitioners, radiologists, medical nurses, laboratory and administrative staff - the all-women team work under the leadership of medical director, Dr. Ferraro.
“There is huge pressure on the existing mother and child healthcare facilities in the emirate. That is where we come in and fill the gap by offering women a whole range of advanced care in an emotionally supportive environment,” said Ferrao, who carries with her over 20 years of experience as Obstetrics and Gynaecology consultant in the UAE.
Exceptional facilities
One of the exceptional facilities at Brightpoint includes the advanced level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) with high-end technology and latest equipment to treat pre-term babies.
“We are the only private facility in Abu Dhabi that can offer neonatal care to babies born as early as 26 or 28 weeks,” said Dr. Ferrao.
The NICU ward at the hospital has advanced incubators to care for infants of all gestational ages and weights, provide mechanical ventilation support, and is staffed by the full range of subspecialty consultants.
Enhancing the experience of childbirth for women is the hospital’s first of its kind LDRP (Labour, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum) care that allows women to experience all pre and post labour maternity treatment and care within the comfort of their rooms.
“This unique facility will allow women to stay in the privacy of their rooms throughout the birthing process without having to be transported to different departments,” Gloria Murison, Hospital Administrator told XPRESS.
Women can also choose from a range of luxurious Royal birthing suits that has attached rooms for families to stay with patients.
The hospital also has a ‘Halababy’ maternal educational program, which includes one-to-one coaching classes, a tour of the hospital’s labour suites, group education and interaction with other families, and nutritional advice.
Other facilities available include wellbeing packages for women over 40 years comprising bone density tests and mammograms, as well as fitness, nutrition and psychological support for females in their teens. Complimentary yoga classes, a full range of treatments at the on-site Zari spa, a florist, valet parking, high-speed internet and a café are the additional services on offer.

Located on Muroor Road in Abu Dhabi next to Al Jazira Football Club, the hospital is operating as an outpatient facility since last year.
